Create Your Own DIY Origami Paper Candle Holder for Global Day of Unplugging
At lilspace we are all about living life plugged into the present or as we like to say, living our best #UnpluggedLife. That is why we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Global Day of Unplugging and #HalfTheStory, a nonprofit dedicated to providing resources for parents with children under the age of 12, in developing healthy habits from the start, to help you plug into what matters most. Together, we aim to help you move beyond screen fatigue and plug into whatever makes you feel happy, creative, and loved.
We all know how easy it is to fall into a dark rabbit hole of our devices, and even harder to pull ourselves out of it! Did you know that people spend around three hours and 15 minutes on their phones every day, with the top 20% of smartphone users spending upwards of four and a half hours? That’s a lot of time spent in the virtual vortex.
Global Day of Unplugging is your opportunity to illuminate your relationship with technology and plug into whatever lights up your life — creativity, love, introspection and so much more.
As a symbol of this light, we are asking people everywhere to take the pledge to participate in a global sign-off ceremony on August 1st by lighting candles on your own or with a group of people. (online or social distancing, approved of course!). Together, people around the world will join together and light a candle after sundown as a sign off and a symbol of their commitment to be more mindful about the role that technology has in their lives.
In preparation for the coming 24 hours of collective presence and to keep your hands busy, we have created a DIY tutorial explaining how to fold your own beautiful origami flower candle holder.
Global Day of Unplugging is almost here. Take the pledge and join thousands of people around the world for 24 hours of collective presence.
